LIFE by Be Caring is looking to recruit an experienced Support Worker to join our Shared Living Scheme in the West Denton area of Newcastle upon Tyne.

As a Support Worker, you will be part of an integral team providing tailored person-centred care to our tenants which is both meaningful and wellbeing focused.

To join us as a Support Worker, we request that all applicants have previous experience working within the social care sector.

Vacancy: 1 x Full-time

Salary: £9.15p/hr

Hours: 37.5hrs per week 

Shifts: Various shifts patterns between the hours of 8:00am - 10:00pm with weekend working required on a rota basis.


Earning £17,842 per year based on working 37.5hrs per week (£9.15p/hr) - Weekend working required on a rota basis.

Eligibility Required

Driving Licence with access to own vehicle. Enhanced DBS check will be carried out and paid for by Be Caring Limited

Experience Required

Previous experience working with the social care sector is essential to considered for this role.

Good knowledge and understanding of behaviour management; being calm and resilient under pressure and a good strong communicator.

We provide full training and support for all who join Be Caring, which includes comprehensive training on; communication and individual wellbeing, fluids and nutrition, medication, moving and handling, basic life support and first aid, infection prevention and control, professional boundaries, safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity.

The Role

As a Learning Disabilities Support Worker, you will be kind and compassionate, building caring and supportive relationships with the people you support and their families. You will deliver personalised care and support to people in their homes. You will place dignity at the heart of the care you provide, maximising independence through enabling approaches and building care and support networks for individuals, involving family and friends and their local community.

We are looking for people who can work independently and as part of a team. You will be empowered to make decisions that improve the lives of people we support. We need people with strong communication skills, who can respond quickly to situations and share relevant information appropriately.

Typical care and support tasks within a care plan include; personal care, including intimate care, administration/prompting of medication, preparation of meals/drinks, completion of domestic tasks, including laundry, cleaning and shopping, and promoting access to, and attendance at community groups and activities.

If you are successful in appointment of this position, you will be supported by your local Quality and Co-ordination team and our in-house Trainer, to ensure you have tools and resources needed to do fulfil your role and to ‘Be the Best you can be’.

You will be supported to complete; induction training (paid) - Trainer led classroom based learning, Care Certificate (completed over a 12-week period), Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification (fully funded after six-month probation period) and additional level 2 and 3 accredited qualifications and certificates relevant to the role.

  • Induction includes a minimum of; 3 x half day classroom based sessions, 14 online learning units and shadowing care calls. As an employee-owned organisation, we pay everyone for successfully completing their induction.
  • We will ask you about your availability at interview to discuss a potential working pattern that meets the needs of the service and the people we support.

    Typically, we ask people to work a mixture of evenings and weekends, for example; alternate weekends, and 2 evenings per week. If you have applied for a weekend only job, then we will expect that you will be available to work weekends.
  • The majority of our colleagues tend to work on early and late shifts, some colleagues work full days.

    EARLY shifts can start as early as 6:45am to 3:00pm and LATE shifts tend to be from 3:00pm to 10:30pm
