Summary

The purpose of the palliative care assistant role is to reduce and relieve symptoms of cancer and its treatment. Offering support around pain, their anxieties and worries, ensuring they remain as content and comfortable as possible.

Additions

We offer guaranteed hour contracts
Long sits and pop-in visits available
We pay an extra 20p on top every visit that you carry out, when completing pop-in visits
We pay 20p per business mile to car driver
Enhanced rates of pay made for bank holidays

Eligibility Required

Full enhanced DBS will be applied for, paid for by Be Caring Ltd.

Experience Required

Experience is not essential as full training and support will be provided.

The Role

As a complex care assistant, you will spend your time out in the community visiting our service users and ensuring they are well looked after, safe and happy. The type of care and support that we offer varies depending on each service user’s individual needs.

All of our service users have a care plan in place for you to adhere to, however, please see below a list of potential tasks that you may be expected to carry out:

Emotional and social support
Assisting with personal care, including intimate care with dignity
Administration/prompting of medication
Pain monitoring
Pressure care
Mouth care
Assisting with the preparation of meals/drinks
Assisting with moving and positioning, including use of equipment
Assisting families to make arrangements
Liaising with health care professionals and families
Adhering to people’s religious beliefs and preferences
Bereavement support for families

Support

If you are successful in appointment of this position you will have the opportunity to complete:

Five days induction training
Care certificate
At least 16 hours shadowing an experienced member of the team
Apprenticeship/diploma in care
Any additional training required for your role
