Team Manager - Learning Disabilities

Vacancy: Team Manager – Learning Disabilities – Independent Supported Living Services (Drivers Only)


LIFE by Be Caring has an exciting opportunity for a Team Manager to run the day to day Independent Supported Living team across the Newcastle/ Tyneside area. This would ideally suit someone who has extensive experience of caring for people with learning disabilities and understands the complexities and sensitivities necessary. You may have had a previous role in a supervisory or leadership capacity, or have an ambition to personally develop and seek to progress in your career.

Be Caring will offer the right person for this role the opportunity to access formal training and qualifications. Level 2 Health and Social Care is essential, and you will commence Level 3 immediately upon appointment. You will be supported by the Service Manager for LIFE and the training team.

The purpose of this role is to manage a team of Support Workers who work remotely for our Independent Support Living services across the Newcastle, Tyneside area. The focus of the type of support we provide is predominantly learning disabilities, autism, mental health and physical disabilities. Ensuring that our customers are provided with the highest quality person-led support and our colleagues are supported to be the best they can be.

Due to the geographical locations of the people who we support across Tynesdie it's essential you are a driver and have access to your own transport.

Eligibility Required

Level 2 Health and Social Care - essential. Level 3 in Health and Social Care is desireable, however enrollment on this qualification will commece upon appointment if required.

Experience Required

Previous experience in working with learning disabilities is essential to this role. You will be supported by the department's Care Service Manager and training team.

You will be familiar with the implementation of person-led care and implementing the necessary support plans in a community-based setting. You'll demonstrate diverse knowledge and understanding of the requirements for delivery of this type of service and have an ability to inspire and support a team.

The Role

You will have responsibility for managing the team who delivers our person-centred care services for the people who we support across Newcastle, Tyneside.

You will coordinate tailored support, championing the development and achievements of every person who we support.

To encourage, support and develop the skills of your colleagues and team members.

Included in this role is a requirement to undertake and implement on-call duties on a rota basis, this is to ensure that we offer care-continuity for 24 hour support.

You'll be responsible for the supervision of a team of Support Workers, ensuring that they are supported to undertake their roles effectively and in a way that meets with the values of our organisation.


As an colleague of Be Caring you will be given the support required to succeed in your role as a Team Manager. Our Care Service Manager will mentor you whilst you settle into the role, ensuring that you understand the workings of the service, Be Caring as an employee-owned organisation, and the operating standards etc.
